I LOVE all things industrial. Just come over my house and it’ll smack you in the face: exposed brick walls, pendant lights, factory carts, a metal lawyer book case, and we are waiting for our steel staircase and cement floors to be put in sometime soon.

Obviously when this design theme transcends into the wedding realm – I am ecstatic! I don’t think there is enough industrial design in the DC wedding world and maybe that’s because our industrial venues are few and far between. But for those of you in southern Virginia, you get the Inn at the Olde Silk Mill – worn wood doors, metal accents, and of course, lots and lots of exposed brick.

For today’s Capitol Inspiration: Wedding Inspiration feature, we have a styled shoot by Amber Reinink Photography and Darian & Dechele Events – styling a modern yellow & grey take on industrial design.

From the vendors:

The inspiration for the shoot is industrial chic. The shoot took place at the Silk Mill, which was once a factory that has since been renovated for weddings and events. The beautiful brick walls and concrete floors were the perfect setting for the shoot. I wanted the shoot to have a clean and contemporary look so I used a lot of white. One the things I love about having an industrial themed wedding is all the elements of steel, wood, and metal. We chose to highlight steel for this shoot so we used a lot of silver pieces and decided to use gray + yellow + white as our color palette.

Industrial chic is all about taking the raw and urban edge and adding some elegance to is. What inspired me the most about this shoot was the idea of going to a hardware shop or thrift shop and finding everyday pieces to use as centerpieces and decor for a wedding or event.I wanted to keep in line with this and have a little fun with the pieces we selected to use. A lot of the items used for the shoot are DIY. Paint cans as floral arrangements and margarita glasses as cake stand were some of the DIY projects we thought would be a great fit for our an industrial feel.
