I got out of the house for the first time before 8am in well over a year (thanks to an 8:30am client meeting). I already want to go home and back to bed ;) Some of it is due to the late bedtime & and some of it is the after-effects of the 2 glasses of wine and 1 glass of Sangria I had. But, it was a nice evening with my day-job colleagues and then meeting up with an old friend that Andy & I hadn’t seen in at least 5 years (crazy how time was flying). I love how with some people you can just pick up like you never left off. Thanks to Kara we have Erin & Kent’s DC wedding to share today – so let’s get to it.

We just wanted things fun, casual and representative of DC – hence Blagden Alley – and totally lucked out with the artist exhibition at Longview being by Michael Crossett. We basically told the photographer to “have fun”, the caterer and florist “simple and to let the artwork speak for itself”, and the guests to “have fun and be a part of the celebration”.

We both really enjoyed the circular ceremony, plus it was a much shorter walk down the aisle, and would suggest it for future couples. It was super fun that everyone was able to see Kent’s face when he got the Caps Stanley Cup souvenir ring since his wedding band was still in the shop.

Our mutual friend who gave the 2nd/last reading is basically responsible for us getting together in the 1st place, which isn’t a super well known fact. We’re major nerds, so our vows were based off fantasy/sci-fi references! Our first reading was from Dr. Seuss, and our second reading was from Collum McCann.

Color scheme wise I just used the WeddingWire generator to help with that, but Kent looks best in grays and greens (because he has green eyes).  All our family was involved in the weekend giving speeches, doing readings and hiring YouTube sensations

All the vendors we worked with were off the preferred vendor list that the venue provided us, and were all a pleasure to work with!  Everyone went above and beyond providing great suggestions for how to arrange the reception.
