Guys. GUYS! This surprise proposal on the Spanish Steps in Meridian Hill Park is so adorable. The CUTEST couple, the most infectious smiles, and such a lovely love story. All of this at one of my favorite places in DC: Meridian Hill Park. Take it away Dickson & Arisa!
Dickson planned a romantic proposal to Arisa on the Spanish Steps in the Kalorama neighborhood of DC. They had friends visiting from out of town, and Dickson planned a walk with their dog Chu that would bring them right to the Spanish Steps (where I was in hiding at the bottom with another friend of theirs). It was perfect that Dickson planned for some of their closest friends to be there to witness the big moment, and their adorable pup was able to be a part of it too!
From Arisa: We met in college through a mutual friend. We were drinking buddies throughout college and our friendship turned into a romantic relationship after we graduated.
Describe the proposal in your own words: We were walking around Embassy Row with his friends from out-of-town. Once we got to the Spanish Steps, his friends suddenly disappeared and Dickson got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Turns out his friends knew all about it and hid just in time to capture the special moment. I couldn’t contain my excitement I was grinning from ear to ear. I think Dickson was nervous because he put the ring on the wrong hand at first, but that just made the proposal more memorable and perfect. I had no idea he planned all this and fell in love all over again.
