Well, what can be said that hasn’t been said before? Life is insane. I never seem to be able to find the time for this blog (unfortunately) and the days somehow keep FLYING by, even amidst all the insanity we are living through. BUT I am hopeful for this little blog because Capitol Romance LLC has a LOT of changes coming! While Kara sadly ended her time with us (both as a wedding coordinator and blog editor) because she moved to Pittsburgh (I actually got to see her yesterday!), Amanda has decided to take on a MUCH MUCH larger role within the Capitol Romance domain, serving as our COO and trying to get this blog back on it’s rails!

I will be making an appearance here and there … but this site will have a lot more offbeat, creative, and practical wedding inspiration without me slowing things down. PLUS we launched an entire elopements and micro-wedding arm of our day-of coordination business, thanks to Kim joining the team.

AND we have three brand new coordinators joining our amazing DC Day-of Coordination team (!!!!). So yeah, LOTS happening here. I’ll pop in for another life update from my end soon, but for now – let’s get to this REALLY COOL gender fluid wedding shoot.

The inspiration was an avant garde, gender fluid wedding. Wedding color scheme was red, white and black with gold accents. The handfasting ceremony was important to this day as it portrayed the unity through love and the bond that will be forever shared.  We chose the Belvoir Winery as our venue because of the history, architecture and endless inspiration!

We relied more on fans and wine than florals as the focus pieces since we were at a winery.  We also highlighted the glamorous nails of Julain and mirrored those nails with Holdy’s black gloves (with nail attachments).

The entire décor was DIY. The Belvoir winery was stunning on its own so we just added some accents that spoke of us. Our biggest “styling” aspect was the sweetheart table setup in one of the main ballrooms.  With touches of blacks & reds and some of the house wine for a toast.

After the handfasting the couple did a little casual dance in front of the venue before heading up to our reception spot in one of the ballrooms. We enjoyed the house red wine & snacks later into the afternoon.
