It probably would come as no surprise to you that, as a day-of coordinator, I love weddings. I love the parts that everyone loves about weddings like seeing the happy couple walking down the aisle at the end of the ceremony, listening to toasts, or celebrating the night away with an epic dance party. But I also love the parts that a casual wedding attendee might not notice: the look of “we did it” that the couple exchanges right out of view as they round the corner after leaving the ceremony, the way a newly married couple gravitates to one another throughout the night, or the beaming looks of pride on the faces of parents from the moment they arrive to the venue until everyone departs at the end of the night. I love this feature for highlighting the mother-daughter relationship on the wedding day. Enjoy!

In my shoot I was going for a Caribbean, elegant and romantic vibe that displays the purest and simplest expressions of love through the bond of a mother and daughter on the wedding day.  My vision came to me from a conversation I had with my cousin who was getting married and she expressed her wants of having a mother-daughter dance on her wedding day to highlight their relationship.  This concept is very personal to me because it’s a moment that I’ve never experienced and I want to inspire other women to experience this moment.  Additionally, my shoot has a generational focus because my cousin has a daughter.  I wanted to incorporate that family aspect into the shoot because I find it very beautiful.

I chose the colors black, green, and gold because they remind me of the Jamaican flag; however, in place of the yellow I incorporated the gold.  Those colors highlight the elements of elegance, royalty and strength.  The colors rose, sage, and ivory bring out the softness and delicacy of a black woman and child. These remind me of the beauty of our skin, our features, and poise.  I believe that this shoot is a great inspiration for a fall wedding.  Lastly, I always try to incorporate some sort of Caribbean flare to all of my events.
