I’ve really been missing weddings lately (maybe because this should have been the PRIME of our Spring season …) but seeing today’s post, which was a wedding of mine from last year, makes it EVEN STRONGER. Lauren & Mike were just such a dream to work with – laid back as they come, easy-going decision makers, and so so in love. They had already traveled the world together & decided to make their love legal, with a beautiful ceremony at DC War Memorial, and then a dinner & reception at Union Street Public House in Alexandria (who, if you are looking for a restaurant venue to work with, were amazing to work with!).

I have such found memories of this day and hope to get to work with many more couples that are just as awesome as these two! Hope you guys are doing OK over in Germany, and thank you for sharing your day with my readers.

Over three years later, it’s hard to believe our story started with a simple swipe right one lazy Saturday morning in April. Both of us hoped the adventure of online dating could lead to something real and enduring, but neither expected that that swipe right would be the first in a lifetime of significant steps taken together. We are moving to Germany less than one month after the wedding, so we will have a three-year honeymoon in Europe.

Since meeting online over three years ago, we have been inseparable ever since. We love to laugh, and amongst our friends are known for doing it often. We love being active and outdoors, and also take every chance we can get to travel internationally, which is what made our engagement during a hike in New Zealand absolutely perfect. It is also why we decided to make travel an underlying theme at our reception. Additionally, we both work for the Department of Defense, and over the last three years our relationship has been both challenged and strengthened by two deployments – Mike to Iraq and Lauren to Afghanistan, which also makes the DC War Memorial an ideal location for us (aside from its natural beauty of course!).

We wanted our wedding to capture our lighthearted, easy to laugh nature, excitement for the next chapter, as well as our genuine love for one another and our story thus far.
