It was a whirlwind of a weekend, and I feel like I could use another day to just relax, and have Justin’s extra set of hands around the house. We took baby boy to his first hockey game yesterday (Let’s Go, Pens!), and his first SOUP-er bowl party. Our friends host, and provide 5 different kinds of soup with all the toppings, and everyone else brings sides and desserts. Its my new favorite way to watch the Super Bowl!

We’re kicking things off this week with Shaun & Reina’s wedding at the now shuttered, Malmaison. But this is a great example of how a restaurant can transform into an amazing wedding venue.

From the photographer: It’s not difficult to write a blog post about a wedding between two people who I’ve known for a while, have partied with me at a past wedding, let me get experimental during their coffeeshop engagement session and who I simply just love. Just being around these two brings me joy, so when it was time for Reina & Shaun’s Malmaison wedding in Georgetown this weekend, I was extremely excited.

We wasted no time on this wedding day as the cameras were clicking and the smiles were happening. Reina & Shaun had their first look along the Georgetown waterfront that was filled with fall colors. After that, they had graciously planned over an hour of time to simply shoot some fun portraits and explore the part of DC that had meant a lot to them and even more on this day. Their wedding party was perfect: extensive, colorful and down for whatever. We even snuck a few family formals in before the epic ceremony with their parents & siblings.

After that the evening was a blur of love and fun. Their ceremony at Malmaison was packed with those who loved them, gorgeous light and all the emotion. We then spent the rest of the evening dancing, enjoying the crisp Fall weather and eating donuts (pretty solid wedding day right?). I won’t say I didn’t cry during some of the speeches from Reina’s family, but I won’t say I did either . It was a perfect wedding to end our 19 wedding run between August, September and October! Also, Reina’s dress was $100 which is incredible, since she looks like a million bucks. Insane!
