There’s a lot to love in today’s Frederick Maryland wedding feature. The couple, Amy & Paul, opted to keep things simple, with a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony, and a reception at The Faux School – an old art school in Frederick! Venues like theirs are awesome for couples that are looking to try and save money on decor – mostly because the venue is so visually stunning itself, there is not much you have to do to decorate it!

The Faux School is chock full of some of my favorite details – exposed brick, strung globe lights, and wood beam ceilings, and the state of the art sound system allowed Amy & Paul to be their own DJs. I really love how Amy & Paul included all their favorite things into their wedding, without breaking the bank. They stayed true to the things that were important to them (an outdoor ceremony) and opted to go light on things that weren’t as important (an iTunes DJ for entertainment). A special thanks to Rachel Harrod Photography for submitting this Maryland wedding!

From the photographer:

Amy put so much work into this day, she was ready to see it all play out! The wedding was gorgeous and the reception was so personal! They used photos they found of all the guest with them as their guest book, and used the #Hildrethwedding for instagram. I love seeing social media play into a wedding day!

About Paul & Amy:

Paul & Amy met in 2006 at the University of Maryland, where he was visiting a friend and she was studying. They were friends for many years before they started dating in 2010, after a particularly awesome tubing trip. He took her to Ted’s Montana grill for their first date, and then there again on July 26th, 2012, after which he proposed!

Details on their Frederick Maryland wedding:

Amy grew up in Frederick, Maryland, and couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to get married than Downtown Frederick. Amy and Paul both wanted a fun outdoor ceremony, and the Carroll Creek Amphitheater provided all that.

The blue and yellow flags on the Carroll Creek Promenade were the inspiration for the wedding colors. The Faux School, an art school also on Carroll Creek, was the perfect spot for a reception!

Friends & family involvement in their wedding:

Both Amy and Paul’s mothers were amazing when it came to wedding planning. Amy was also lucky to have a cousin, Mayela Lopez, who is a graphic designer, who was able to create all the paper products for the wedding.

Paul’s sister-in-law’s sister, Sarah Bookwalter, (affectionately a faux-sis), was their day-of planner.

Amy made different earrings for all her bridesmaids with the help of her talented aunt Sally. Amy & Paul also made the playlist themselves, and DJayed the party with the help of iTunes and the Faux School’s killer sound system.

Amy & Paul decided again wedding cake and opted for an ice-cream sundae bar instead! The bride also made chocolate chip cookies for all the guests as favors.

I just had to share some of their awesome song choices for their wedding dances. They opened the reception with Adam Sandlar’s “Grow Old With You” and ended the night, Irish punk rock style, with the Drop Kick Murpheys! LOVE!
