If I am being honest, I am currently anxious as hell. Anxious about the week and if there will be violence, anxious about what comes NEXT for Washington, DC and the country. Will there be continued violence (likely)? And for how long will the security theater stay in my home city? When I go through rounds of uncertainty anxiety, I tend to try and go into ACTION overdrive. I take on A LOT of things (donating, reading articles, rage tweeting, trying to solve ALL the problems) as an attempt to do something, anything to make a difference.

Where I usually end up is exhaustion and I can feel myself on the precipice of this.

So I am trying to take a step back. To make sure I don’t drop any balls at work, that I am spending enough time off my phone and being present with my kids, that I am putting away the angry feelings and instead finding the light, the love, the hope.

This gorgeous shoot (which I was supposed to post on Friday…) certainly helps. Happy Inauguration Week, MLK’s Birthday, and start of a new chapter in this country – one that includes the First. Black. Female. Vice. President. Let’s go.

Nestled in the hillsides of South Carolina, North Corner Haven was the location of our ballet-inspired styled wedding shoot. This location is actually a working farm, and makes for an incredible backdrop for a wedding. Two dancers from the Charlotte Ballet were our models, and they slayed this shoot! We wanted to showcase the beauty of the African American bride and groom in 2020.
