I couldn’t be more happy to get to share these two human’s baby shower on the blog today! I feel honored that I’ve gotten to share so many milestones in Kara & Justin’s lives (being their wedding coordinator for their super awesome DC wedding, bringing Kara onto #TeamCapRo, and then the baby announcement! Yay!). I was super bummed to be out of town the weekend of the shower, but loved getting to see some of the awesome of how it came together via these photos. Thank you Kara & Justin for sharing with us!

When my parents offered to throw us a baby shower, we knew we wanted a casual, laid-back affair, void of the typical baby shower games. Many of our friends are couples, so we also knew we wanted it to be a coed celebration. Why should the guys miss out on good food and drinks? Justin and I are craft beer enthusiasts, as seen in our brewery engagement photos, so we decided to carry that theme through the baby shower with “A Baby is Brewing” evites, DIY bunting, and on the favors.

We’re also foodies, so finding a venue with great food and drink options was also important to us. When our original venue fell through a few weeks prior to the shower, we were fortunate enough to secure the 2nd floor at Sospeso on H St. for brunch. Its a beautiful, light-filled space, and with the exposed brick, and huge windows, you don’t really need much decor.

Instead of cards, we asked guests to bring their favorite childhood book, and leave a note on the inside cover, to help us start baby’s little library. We have no shortage of great books for bedtime reading. For favors, guests left with my mom’s homemade caramel corn, and they could fill bags with assorted chocolates.

In lieu of the typical baby shower games, we had activities for our guests; mad libs where guests could leave their advice and well wishes, bandanas and burp cloths to decorate, and blank pages of Baby’s First Alphabet Book, where guests could show off their drawing skills. I was quite impressed with our friends’ and families’ artistic skills, and the bandanas and burp cloths are something we’ll get great use out of.
