A couple week’s back I saw this stunning wedding shoot & bridal inspiration set on Sarah Gormley Photography‘s blog and I just knew I had to feature it here.
The shoot is styled SO differently from most other wedding shoots I have seen – it has a sense of darkness and seriousness to it, with deep greens and purple hues, set in a forest, next to a lake. It’s always so refreshing to me to see photographers in the Washington, DC area doing something different in the wedding scene.
Titled “Lady of the Lake”, this shoot features a handful of some seriously rad wedding vendors, showcasing a hand-painted wedding invitation suite, and gorgeous wedding cake overflowing with florals, and some seriously unique bouquets & floral headpieces that use sticks and other a-typical fauna for wedding florals.
Also, be sure to click through to the end – the black and white portraits Sarah shot are breathtaking.
Lady of the Lake Inspired Wedding Shoot, Dark & Alternative Bridal Inspiration

A bit from The Peacock Press on the wedding invitation suite, “The Lake”:
“The Lake” is from a series of three hand-painted designs, and features layers of purples and grays that mimic water ripples.
Can’t tell you what I love more, the bride’s green streaked hair, or that deep mauve lipstick!
That floral headpiece – with the sticks branching out?! Gah – so much awesome. Mobtown Florals killed it.

Do you love this cake from Hamilton Bakery as much as I do? The succulent greens with that pop of orange? Just beautiful.
The cake is almost personified – it looks like it’s alive with those plants actually growing on it!
love love love this gown from Jill Andrews Gowns!
And I saved the best for last. This next shot just kills me with its awesome – it’s like the bride is peering into my soul. I feel compelled to print/frame this picture for some reason I can barely articulate! Wowzer!
A special thanks again to Sarah Gormley Photography & all the talented vendors that worked on this shoot!
Hot damn this is awesome!!!! I am so digging that bride’s look. The green hair + dark lipstick is so cool. Great job, I’ve never seen anything like this, so kudos to all involved!
