How is it already the end of January?!?! For those of you that had a 3-day weekend, I hope you took some time to relax and regroup. I was happy to have my husband home for an extra day to help with our 7-month old. While I feel extremely fortunate to be able to stay home with him everyday, its nice to have an extra set of hands to help out. Plus, I love watching the two of them bond and hang out together :)
Now, on to today’s wedding! I love an intimate backyard wedding, but this one takes the cake. I mean, how often do you find an airplane hangar in your backyard???
We chose a very special place to host our wedding – an airplane hangar of an 18th century farm house located right outside of Richmond, Va. Cool Water is an 18th century farm house that has been owned by my family for more than 49 years. Cool Water has served as a backdrop for many family gatherings since I was a little girl, and I always dreamed of getting married there. I have such very special memories from my time spent at Cool Water.
Alli and Steven met while working together at a start-up in Arlington, VA, called Opower. Alli originally tried to set up Steven with her younger sister, but Steven stood her up on their scheduled date because he said he was in love with her older sister. Steven proposed in September 2018 on the couples’ sailboat.
The wedding of Alli and Steven was truly unique and spectacular. The family had an airplane hangar on the property that the couple cleaned up and turned into a one-of-a-kind wedding venue. The ceremony took place on the side of the old 18th century farmhouse and guests walked up to the hangar for dinner, a pig roast catered by Rockland’s, dancing, a fire and a helicopter exit!
