This morning I have a beautiful love shoot from Kelly Ewell Photography [submitted via Two Bright Lights] at one of my favorite vintage stores in the Washington, DC area … Lucketts Vintage Store in Leesburg, VA!

If you don’t know already, I am extremely biased on Lucketts ~ because I had my own engagement session there! So when Kelly‘s beautiful, DIY love shoot popped into my inbox, I naturally jumped at the feature. A Washington, DC wedding blog just cannot feature cool places like this enough! I would highly recommend Lucketts Store for a vintage engagement shoot location in the DC area!

Wedding Photographer, Kelly Ewell shares:

When Abbie moved from Kansas to Washington DC to be with her true love, an engagement soon followed. They contacted me for their engagement session but were married back in Kansas. After honeymooning in the Bahamas and the Phillipenes with a side trip to Chicago, they were finally back in the DC area and Abbie wanted to wear her dress one more time. She contacted me again to set up a (very) day after session. She also wanted something a little offbeat so we chose an antique store for her and James to don their wedding attire once more.

A bit about James & Abbie, from the beautiful bride herself:

James and I met on EHarmony in February of 2009 and met in person in May 2009, and after doing the long distance relationship for 7 months, I moved up east!  I was living in Kansas when we met and he was in Virginia.  We are a quirky couple (i’m taller than him) but we are definitely good together!

The wedding was in Kansas and it was a dream.  We had about100 guests total and it was outdoors.  It was such a good day!

We currently live in Maryland with our ADORABLE calico cat Reese (who was in our engagement pictures with us). Kelly occasionally does blogs about locations she thinks would be/are great for photo shoots.  I saw her piece on Lucketts and I had to jump all over that! I love all things vintage and thought it would just be a fun and unique setting for a Rock the Dress session (with husband too).  It was definitely hot that day for us too, but we grinned and beared it, and we got some really good shots out of it!

I would say so! Enjoy James & Abbbie’s adorable vintage love shoot for some perfect DIY wedding inspiration!

i love the ruffle of flowers along the edge of Abbie’s dress ~ i was surprised to hear it was from David’s Bridal(!) it’s so unique/different with that ruffle

Adorable kiss shot in front of the bright red door!

You can also see Abbie’s DIY Bouquet in these two shots ~ Abbie made it herself from some daisies and hydrangeas she picked up at the grocery store on the way there!
