Wedding Music That Doesn’t Suck: Power of Love

I am READY to take on this week.

Ok, maybe I am lying slightly … it is my first full week of work in over 4 weeks [yikes] and there are a TON of things happening in Capitol Romance land: blogging, weddings to coordinate, shoots to plan, a service day to execute…and so much more. So what helps get me in the mood to tackle all of this? Music, of course.

You can thank 80s on 8, the XM radio station, for today’s non-sucky wedding song suggestion: Huey Lewis & the News’ “Power of Love.”

You don’t need money, don’t take fame
Don’t need no credit card to ride this train
It’s strong and it’s sudden and it’s cruel sometimes
But it might just save your life
That’s the power of love

I’d probably recommend this one to be a part of your cocktail hour playlist or an early in the evening reception song. It’s somewhat cheesey, totally 80s, and 100% pumping me up to get this week started.

What say you?

Wedding Music That Doesn’t Suck: Black Light Dinner Party

Happy Columbus Day to anyone like me that was forced to take off work (or just gets the day off naturally!).

This morning’s modern wedding song suggestion is for the real indie-rock loversBlack Light Dinner Party gives us “Older Together“. The lyrics appropriately fit a wedding, but the music is pretty alternative, so it might not be for everyone ~ but HEY isn’t that is what we try to do herepush the envelope and make some rather outlandish suggestions every now and then.

If you run, I’ll be your renegade
With you, growing older, older, together
We growing older, older together

This could definitely work for a cocktail hour playlist, wedding video, or heck, even a very modern or alternative first dance song for your wedding. What say you?
