These two might look familiar, as we just featured their adorable Bocce Ball themed engagement session the other day! Well now they are back, with their simple, laid-back DC wedding at the DC War Memorial and Edgewood Arts Center. Featuring some of our fav DC vendors (hi Timber Pizza & Paperbird Photography), and coordinator by our own rockstar DOC, Kara, this DC wedding is sure to brighten your Thursday. Let’s get to it!

Our vision for the wedding was very simple: It had to be fun and laid back. And affordable. And with good food. And lots of friends and family. And easy to coordinate.

We choose the DC War Memorial for its simplicity and location. We loved the white marble columns invoking the best of Washington’s architecture and the location was great for our out of town family who maybe haven’t been to the Mall yet.

We chose the reception venue, Edgewood Arts Center, for its location, vibe, and lack of vendor restrictions. And price. We already knew which caterer we wanted, Timber Pizza, and didn’t want to deal with ‘approved vendor’ lists. We didn’t really have a specific color theme; We had some blue and champagne colored items, but didn’t make much of an effort to stick to that color set.

Our wedding had some Do It Yourself elements. We made our own centerpieces and bouquets, delivered our own reception supplies, and planned most of it on our own. Kevin and his groomsmen ran a lot of errands the morning-of, and Christy and her bridesmaid and family spent the previous day building the centerpieces and arranging flowers.  We also enlisted our good friend, Stacey, to officiate the ceremony, adding an even more personal touch to our day.
