I think I am finally in a space where I can start looking at & reading (and posting) non-political articles without feeling guilty. The feeling of trying to solve all the problems and save everyone and everything is getting exhausting and I know I need to step by and focus more on the things I can control. Like still bringing beautiful couples & love stories to your screens. So for today we have a lovely Virginia wedding with touches of gold and beautiful Fall scenery. A nice escape indeed.

Why did you choose the colors you did? Magenta, navy, and gold. I love pink and blue, but wanted shades that would compliment the fall season. Gold allowed for some shine and glamour – which made for a more celebratory atmosphere! Bonus: the magenta and navy made wedding party attire easy and the gold was fun to accessorize with.

We love Virginia and the mountains. After looking at several barn venues, we found House Mountain Inn and were blown away by the view. The facility itself was perfect for an outdoor cocktail hour and dancing, with a more formal seated dinner inside. The combination was ideal!

Having flowers that were in season was something that was important for the look we wanted. My parents live across from a dahlia farm (Wollam Gardens) so it was an easy choice to go with them. Sourcing local made me feel great about the choice and lucky me! I was able to walk the gardens a few days before the wedding to pick out my favorites.

I had a vision of gold mercury details with gold mini pumpkins for a pop of fall. I was so happy to find the gold mercury vases we ended up using, they added the shimmer and dazzle to the tables I was looking for.

Instead of having a photo booth we provided Instax Mini Fujifilm cameras with film. Having a portable photo option allowed our guests to take pictures everywhere and bring home a souvenir of the celebration.

Both Chris and I have a thing for sweets so having a traditional cake was a priority! Chocolate cake and mocha icing for me, almond cake and vanilla icing for him. The cake was the best wedding cake we have ever eaten and to prove it, we didn’t save our cake top but ended up eating it through our first week of marriage. We had chocolate caramel and chocolate peanut-butter truffles for party favors on the way out. Peanut butter and chocolate is Chris’s favorite treat combination.

We spray painted all of the mini gold pumpkins we used for the place settings (probably my favorite detail). I designed all of the publications myself (greeting bag tags, ceremony program, map of Lexington) which was fun for me because part of my job is graphic design. My sister scripted the framed signs we used by tracing a print-out with a gold metallic Sharpie. My mom made all of the truffles herself, they were delicious!
