I went to a wedding this weekend and not only was the couple’s first dance song perfect for a Wedding Music That Doesn’t Suck post, they did something super unique/awesome for their first dance: they meshed the father-daughter and mother-son dance into the couple’s first dance too!

First, the song. A perfect modern first dance song by Dave Matthews Band, “You & Me”.

You and me together, could do anything baby
You and me together, yes yes

You and I are
Were not tied to the ground
Not falling but rising like rolling around
Eyes closed above the rooftops
Eyes closed we gonna spin through the stars
Our arms wide as the sky

Second, how they made it unique. The bride, Lauren told me yesterday that she didn’t want to take up too much time in the reception with doing three separate dances, so she thought, why not have some fun by combining them all into one song! As a guest, it was actually REALLY cool. The couple started, dancing together, surrounding by their wedding party – and then the bride’s father cut in for the second verse. The groom took the bride back, but then his mother cut-in for the next verse. Then the bride and groom got back together, both parents of the couples joined in, and the entire wedding party.

It was AWESOME – and totally unique and this wedding song by Dave Matthews Band was the PERFECT choice for their alternative first dance!
