David & Garrett’s Heartfelt, Personalized Maryland Wedding at Walkers Overlook

One Comment

I’ve blogged a ton of weddings in the 3+ years I’ve been running this blog. Some really stick with me, where I can quite vividly call back from memory the images I laid out and the details I typed. This will be one of those weddings. Mostly because of the emotions that you can seriously FEEL coming out of every. single. image that Leo Druker Photography captured. But the natural, laid-back, details also help. Walkers Overlook, a wedding venue in Maryland, gave David & Garrett that a rustic, homey feel they were going for and their wedding vendors just executed the overall wedding day perfectly.

This, my engaged friends, is why you hire vendors that are not only professionals, but are a match to your personality, style, and nuances. Because then they can create a wedding day like this – one that emanates you and your partners’ feelings, desires, and emotions. I seriously feel like I KNOW these two people just from their wedding pictures. And I sure as hell wish I could have been in attendance at this wedding! But enough from me, more from Leo, David & Garrett.

We each had our suits custom made from My.Suit (www.mysuitny.com). We wanted to “go,” but not “match.”

We opted to not have a specific color palate, nor did we intentionally choose any particular colors. We are inspired by natural elements and asked that the decor reflect the time of year (October). Our one main request was that the florals/decor have an unfinished edge and they used stone, metal, and glass to maintain that feeling.

On their venue:

We wanted a space that felt like it could have been our home and had a rustic edge. They have a vintage car which they allowed us to use as a bar at the reception.

Erika & Dave’s Offbeat Maryland Farm Wedding with Sunflowers

Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of details to share for today’s Offbeat Maryland Farm wedding – BUT I think the pictures more than make up for that. Erika & Dave got married at Woodlawn Farm – a beautiful Maryland farm wedding venue just outside Baltimore. They used sunflowers and a TON of DIY to personalize their wedding day.

The pops of yellow with the neutral burlap are such a fun, fresh summer wedding color palette choice and I just LOVE Dave’s yellow chucks. I also really enjoy any wedding that ends with a bonfire. Totally something I would have done myself if we hadn’t gotten married in the middle of DC :)

Thanks to Andrew Morrell Photography for sharing his images and submitting via Two Bright Lights.

Erika & Dave’s Offbeat, DIY Outdoor Maryland Farm Wedding

first

Andrew shared:

Holy cow. This wedding was as gorgeous as it looks. Erika and David are outdoor people. When we got together for their Potomac River engagement session earlier that spring, we dove in and out of flower patches and weeping willows. So it made perfect sense that their mid-Autumn wedding would be held entirely outdoors on the Chesapeake Bay. And the weather cooperated with breathtaking perfection. From the handmade bouquets to the placeholders to the wishing lanterns and final bonfire, this was a once-in-a-lifetime wedding.

Akriti & Kris’ Traditional Indian & Rustic Maryland Wedding

I apologize again for the lack of posting yesterday – life seems to be crazy at the moment as I prepare to head to Pittsburgh tonight to be a part of two of my best friends’ wedding :) Fortunately though I have a STUNNING traditional Indian Maryland wedding to share today and some gorgeous portraits to share tomorrow for Wedding Inspiration Friday.

Thanks to Porter Watkins Photography & Two Bright Lights I get to blog the beautiful wedding of Akriti & Kris – a gorgeous couple that strayed away from the typical hotel venue and used inspiration from their childhood to plan and execute a one-of-a-kind traditional Indian wedding.

Akriti & Kris’ Rustic, DIY Traditional Indian Maryland Wedding

Reception Venue:  Brittland Estates

Akriti & Kris’ love story:

We met when we were 18, during our first year of college. We instantly became best friends, and since then, we’ve been inseparable. Flash forward 8 years and it was time to plan our wedding! (Kris did propose first, of course!).

About their DIY wedding:

We both wanted a wedding that was unique and memorable for everyone. With that in mind, we avoided the typical hotel venue and actually took our inspiration from the way a traditional Indian wedding would be done back in the day. That is, in the childhood home of the bride.

Since Akriti’s parents’ house wasn’t big enough for all the guests we ended up renting a house on the Eastern Shore.

Our wedding really was a fully DIY project involving the whole family.

The wedding day began with the groom’s procession to the wedding house.

Kris’ cousin, Nick, a musician and producer actually composed the music and then the whole family, armed with instruments, performed it for the walk up to the house.

That, my friends – is FREAKING SWEET. Having a friend compose custom music for your wedding and having it played LIVE while marching to the wedding venue? Well I am just in AWE.

Tiffany & Jimmy’s Vintage Maryland Wedding at Little Seneca Creek Lodge

Whenever my inbox tells me I have a submission from Rebekah J. Murray Photography [via Two Bright Lights] I get super-duper excited. I mean, the last time she sent me one, it was Natalie & Stewart’s Whimsical, Offbeat Virginia Wedding, and now Tiffany & Jimmy’s amazing, antique wedding … it does NOT disappoint.

Tiffany & Jimmy threw an amazing, low-key vintage wedding at The Lodge at Little Seneca Creek in Montgomery County, Maryland.

I have the entire feature to swoon about Tiffany’s vintage lace, tea-length dress, and all the other amazing vintage details from this Maryland wedding. But first a bit from the photographer:

Tiffany and Jimmy wanted a low-key, classic wedding. They decided on a vintage theme and incorporated lots of antique details such as lace, baby’s breath, and antique bottles to the decor of their rustic venue, The Lodge at Little Seneca Creek. My favorite vintage detail is Tiffany’s lace tea-length dress, and I just adore the powder blue VW bug getaway car!

Looks like Rebekah shares my love of Tiffany’s amazing vintage wedding dress! More from this amazing wedding can be seen on Rebekah J Murry’s blog and the wonderful wedding blog, Elizabeth Anne Designs.
