Margaret & Justin’s Vintage Carnival Themed Wedding at Union Mills

Love this simple Maryland wedding feature today! It features a TON of DIY and the most adorable vintage carnival theme! Margaret & Justin got married at Union Mills Homestead and wanted something rustic and vintage. So once they decided upon the historic mill as their venue, the vintage carnival theme fell right into place. They shared, “It allowed us to play up both of our tastes. I love everything vintage and Justin likes the rustic look, so it was the perfect compromise. The theme came together beautifully and was perfect for our venue.”

Thanks to Brenda Murphy Photography for sharing this one with us!

All paper ware (like the place cards and table numbers) my husband made and we printed at Kinkos. My brother made the cut out face board and we borrowed the popcorn machine. Basically we made pretty much everything ourselves.

Diggy & David’s Relaxed, Outdoor Tent Maryland Wedding at Snow Hill Manor

Not a lot of details for today’s Maryland wedding feature from Sarah Gormley Photography – but not that there is any thing wrong with that. Sometimes we love dialing it back from the overly planned, overly styled weddings, and giving you all just plain & gorgeous images that show the real, raw love and happiness of a wedding day.

Diggy & David are a super relaxed couple, that self describe themselves as “photo avoiders” (meaning they don’t like to have their photos taken). They didn’t want their pictures to come across “posey” or fake. And so they hired a photographer that could capture their true emotions, at ease. Couples that are wedding planning – I can’t stress enough just how important this is! If you are camera-shy or don’t like having your pictures taken, then you really must find a photographer that can work with that!!

Diggy & David planned a beautiful & relaxing “family reunion style” wedding on the grounds of Stone Hill Manor in Maryland. It included a tent, BBQ-style catering, and some seriously rad decor from DIYva Designs (just wait until you see the tassel backdrop from their ceremony!).

Capitol Wedding: Elizabeth & Trevor’s Rustic Meets Elegance, Maryland Wedding

One Comment

Happy Thursday! Today we have an elegant Maryland wedding to share, courtesy of Voula Trip Photography [submitted via Two Bright Lights]. Elizabeth & Trevor decided to infuse their love of nature into their wedding day, so they worked in a TON of bright green colors and used natural flowers and stones throughout their wedding decor.

Their laid-back wedding had a rustic feel, with yard games at the reception, but the overall look still maintained an excellent sense of elegance. Liz & Trevor personalized their wedding, every place they could, and it completely shows in this fun, modern Maryland wedding feature!

Our proposal story

In August 2011 we had been dating for about 7 years. We were on vacation with my family at our favorite place, my family’s cabins on lake Memphremagog in Quebec. When we talked about marriage in the past I had always told him that I did not need an engagement ring, so I was extremely surprised when he gave it to me one evening while we watched the sunset over the lake from the deck of our cabin. The ring turned out to be perfect for me because it was a beautiful conflict free, fair trade solitaire. My whole family was surprised and elated when we ran to the dock to share it with them. It was a great evening.

I came up with the colors and overall scheme the night we got engaged. We were in our favorite place and I was inspired by the colors around us. Green has always been my favorite color and I picked the shade that matched some of the ferns and birch leaves around the cabins.

I chose gray because I loved how the birch leaves looked against the gray trunks and how the moss looked on the gray rocks around the lake.
