What happens when a vocalist and a DJ get married?

A wedding with exploding bright, neon colors, DIY details, and CD wedding favors of course! This morning we have Denise & LJ’s techno-music inspired offbeat wedding at the Bluemont Vineyard in Virginia, by Anna Bruce Photography [submitted via Two Bright Lights].

Denise & LJ’s Techno-Music Inspired Wedding in Northern Virginia

LJ & Denise also have an extremely touching love story & proposal …

LJ proposed to Denise around the two year anniversary of her mother’s passing. It was a very difficult time for her. Denise was obviously upset and told LJ that she felt so alone.

LJ told Denise that he would be right back with some water and when he returned he got down on one knee and said “I love you and you will never be alone” and he proposed to her.

They got married one year later around the anniversary of her mother’s passing so that it would be a happy time instead of sad.

What a truly touching story ~ and such a reflection of how cyclical life is with its ups and downs, beginnings and ends. Another touching point was that both the engagement ring and wedding band that Denise now has and wears was her mothers.

how gorgeous & unique is Denise [and her mom’s] engagement ring?

just love the pops of color with the hot pink & yellow paper lanterns!

Naturally…

Instead of the mothers lighting the candle, Denise’s Aunt and LJ’s Mom used a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine from Bluemont Vineyards to symbolize the unity of both families.

The gorgeous sunflower bouquets were completely DIYed!

The f lowers were purchased at Whole Foods and wrapped by the Bride and Bridesmaids with glittery pink ribbon from Michael’s.

i adore how much SASS Denise is throwing down in this next shot!

hot pink finger nails & mesh gloves on a bride? yes please!

Their DIY Wedding Centerpieces doubled as DIY mix tape wedding favors:

The favors were custom CDs! Made by the groom with some of their wedding day tunes as well as favorite tunes :) Photo on the cover by Anna Bruce Photography from their Engagement Session.

The centerpieces were DIYed by Denise and her Bridesmaids. Denise saved the empty bottles of wine she collected in the previous year from Bluemont vineyards and used them for center pieces. She included flowers from WholeFoods and put glow sticks and CDs at the bottom.

how perfect is this wedding cake with headphones on top, and records on the sides!? SO perfect for a techno music inspired wedding!

love the white lights & paper lanterns ~ perfect complement to the wood beams!

Congratulations LJ & Denise ~ thank you for sharing your offbeat neon colored wedding with us! A special thanks to Anna Bruce Photography & Two Bright Lights for making this submission possible!

  1. I’m shooting a wedding at Bluemont later this year and this makes me all the more excited! Those shots in the sunglasses were awesome. Also, hello, Manolo Blahnik. GORGEOUS.
