We like to keep you guessing here on Capitol Romance. As a DC wedding blog that prides itself on showing a variety of weddings, couples, and features – I love jumping around from modern, to vintage, to DIY, to traditional … and back again.

So to keep with that plan, I have a stunning, traditional wedding to share with you by Jan Michele Photography [submitted via Two Bright Lights]. Ashley & John got married at the Ritz Carlton in Mclean, VA and boy, did they get married in style. Just because this couple opted to go the traditional route, doesn’t mean they didn’t know how to have one big ball of fun while doing it!

Ashley & John’s Super Fun, Pink, & Big (300 guests!) Ritz Carlton Wedding

First, a bit about the happy couple:

Ashley is a stylist at a McLean salon, and John is General Manger at LePain Quotidien in Georgetown. We met at a DC club where friends introduced us. We had instant chemistry, and after a 13 month engagement we were married on October 2, 2010

hah! what a fun groomsmen shot!

We both like to have a great time with friends and family and our extended circle is very important to us. We knew the venue had to accommodate everyone. We chose the Ritz Carlton at Tyson’s Corner because of the proximity to McLean and their reputation for service. As a bride who wanted every detail to be perfect, I did most of the planning myself with the assistance of my mom. We hired a day of wedding planner, Sara Franklin of Social Scene events, to keep us on track and allow my mom and I to relax when the date finally arrived. I basically had planned my wedding for years, my friends knew it was going to be planned with perfection- – great food, great music and of course everything was going to scream pink!

The girls wore floor length black satin gowns with an attached light pink sash that swept down the back into a small train. The bands were embellished with black crystals to give an extra touch.. They were very elegant.

Gentleman were dressed in black tuxedo with pink ties, John wore white vest and white tie.. One nice thing was we bought them black converse sneakers to wear at the reception to keep the dancing going….pink shoe laces of course!

A formal 300 person evening wedding was held at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal church- – this is the same church where my parents were married 29 years ago.

I love Ashley’s hair in this next shot – love when a bride chooses to have her hair down!

The Ritz looked phenomenal when we walked in- – the room sparkled with pink, silver and black. It was breathtaking. We danced the night away to Glyde productions…..my father and I to the song Cinderella….and then…

the ballroom literally turned into a dance party.

They aren’t kidding – these pics look more like a rock show!

Congratulations Ashley & John! Thank you so much for sharing your big day with us! A special thanks to Jan Michele Photography & Two Bright Lights for making the submission possible!
