Well you saw the sneak peak yesterday, and now I have the beautiful pictures and details … and later I will have the emotionally charged and just absolutely stunning wedding video to share with you!! Aw here it goes (name that ’90s TV show reference…)

Julie & Ryan got married at the Merriweather Manor in Leesburg VA this past September. This beautiful, vintage affair was masterfully captured by Washington, DC wedding photographer, Tara K Foto. The wedding video (which I am seriously insanely excited to get to feature) that you will see this afternoon, was a collaboration between Tara’s photography business and her fiance’s film studio, Sebastien Tobler Films. More on that later …

A bit about Julie & Ryan:

This gorgeous couple actually met in high school (we all know how I feel about high school sweethearts :) and are very laid back and love the outdoors. They have traveled all over the world and had guests from all over attend their wedding day (including Guatemala & Canada)!

Tara also shared that both their families were just so full of laughter, especially on the wedding day. This is totally evident in the photos!

Whoa, the Merriweather Manor is a seriously beautiful, Virginia wedding venue!

Julie’s vintage, lace wedding dress is gorgeous.

Yes! I love simple hairpieces on brides!

Just look at that lace gown and with the ribbon around the center? Just beautiful!

And there are those laughs Tara told us about!!!

Really digging the orange and purple color combination!

I will always love the way colored paper lanterns look under tents. Always.

Simple, but beautiful decorations for the outdoor ceremony

The perfect way to relax before getting  married … a beer.

I am pretty much in love with this groomsmen shot. It is SO casual and not-posed and I just LOVE it.

Another non-posed groomsmen shot, making me oh-so-happy :)

A good friend of the couple officiated the wedding. What a beautiful shot of this.

And this is my absolute favorite shot. Probably because we have a very similar picture from our own wedding, with Andy fist-pumping post-nuptials. Lol. Love it.

Naturally the world-traveling couple had a world travel themed engagement story too:

Julie did a semester abroad in Africa while in grad school. Ryan traveled over there to pop the question. The bench they sit on in the film [you will see this afternoon] is a replica of the bench they were sitting on when Ryan proposed.

A-dorable.

Julie’s colorful bouquet is gorgeous.

Wow. What a fabulous shot by Tara of the tent, paper lanterns, and tables all set up and lit up at night!

Julie & Ryan also bucked the wedding cake tradition and went for a dessert alternative ~ home made pies baked by Julie’s mom (YUM!). They also had an ice cream stand to accompany the pies (Double Yum).

Reception shots are always hilarious. Catching people in the act of singing and dancing, is just priceless.

Congratulations Julie & Ryan, thank you for letting me share your gorgeous, laid-back Virginia wedding. A special thanks to Tara K Foto for sharing her beautiful images! A reminder that this couple’s amazing wedding video will be on the blog later today. It is a must-see!

  1. This was truly an exceptional couple who had an exceptionally personalized wedding! When I found out that they had gotten engaged on a bench in Africa, I knew we had to incorporate that into the wedding. Her sister did an amazing job of replicating the bench and we used it for the guests to sit on and write their wedding wishes and for photo ops. I will be posting more photos from this wedding in the near future when I update my website.
